ode Wins Five-Year Contract for Provision of Support Services for North Sea Operation

International engineering and operations support services contractor, Offshore Design Engineering (ode), has won a five-year contract for the provision of operations support services to the Southern North Sea operations of energy company RWE Dea UK Limited.

The £40m contract marks the start of another phase in an eight-year relationship with RWE Dea UK which has widened to include the provision of operations support services to the Cavendish, Topaz, Clipper South and Breagh Fields.

Recent work includes an initial front-end engineering design for RWE’s planned Breagh Bravo platform development, executed out of ode’s London offices.

RWE Dea UK’s Operations Director Paul Jeffs said he was very pleased with ode’s past performance and saw a strong and ongoing commitment to the continued provision of a high quality service with an excellent safety record.

ode’s commitment to safety was further endorsed by RWE’s Head of Developments, Mark Hughes, who said: “The Clipper South project, through engineering, construction, drilling and fracking, and subsequent production, had achieved four years free of Lost Time Incidents – an achievement we are proud of and to which ode has made a significant contribution.”

The operations support contract will be managed and coordinated from ode’s Great Yarmouth Marine Base and ode’s Chairman Peter Godfrey congratulated Regional Director Paul Chilvers, describing the award as another major milestone for the company.

“The award of the RWE Dea UK contract reinforces ode’s continued commitment to provide locally-based support,” said Mr Chilvers. “Together with similar services already provided to other SNS operators, this demonstrates our leading position as an independent provider of integrated operations support services.”

With both the Clipper South and Breagh Fields still in development drilling and the Breagh platform due to come on stream in September, ode has provided engineering, operations and maintenance input throughout detailed design and pre-commissioning as well as the subsequent development of maintenance, inspection and integrity management schemes.

The Clipper South platform has been in production for over a year and ode is providing a full operations crew covering platform operations, maintenance and support services during the manned phase of operations.

The scope of services of the new contract includes offshore operations, office-based support facilities such as engineering and technical services, maintenance and integrity management, emergency response support, warehousing, operational spares storage and quayside access and storage.
