RWE Innogy to Install Infield Cables on Nordsee Ost OWF

VSMC has been contracted by German firm RWE Innogy to lay and bury the infield cables of the Nordsee Ost offshore wind farm in Germany.

Recently, VSMC also won contracts from E.ON and DONG Energy to install the export cables of two wind farms along the English coast, in partnership with Boskalis Offshore Subsea Contracting.

Work on Nordsee Ost offshore wind farm will start in Q1 2014 with the installation and burying of the 52 cables that connect the wind turbines to the offshore high voltage station. The wind farm consists of 48 wind turbines and has a total capacity of 295 MW. The wind farm will be situated in the German Bight, which is located in the southeastern part of the North Sea. VSMC is currently installing the cables of the adjacent Meerwind Offshore wind farm.

Partnership

VSMC will be working together on these projects with Boskalis Offshore Subsea Contracting.

Sustainable solutions

CEO Arno van Poppel: “This job is very much in line with the contribution that we – together with our clients – make to sustainable solutions. That’s how VSMC completed the installation of the export cables for the Thornton Bank wind farm in 2012, with RWE Innogy as major shareholder. Once again, we look forward to our collaboration.”
