Power Cable Between Denmark and The Netherlands Delayed

The power cable Cobra between Denmark and the Netherlands is to be delayed by one year, Energinet.dk announced.

Energinet and its Dutch partner TenneT Holding BV planned to complete the cable by 2016, but the plans are delayed until 2017, Bloomberg reports.

Danish Energy Association chief consultant Charlotte Soendergren said: “This is a massive step backward for the Danish power system at a time when the country’s dependence on cross-border cables is growing.

Danish lobby reports that this delay will put Denmark in a disadvantage, as the other Nordic countries are boosting their links to the rest of Europe.
