Nominations for Subsea 2013 Business Awards Start

Subsea UK is urging companies and individuals to nominate their outstanding achievements for the prestigious 2013 Subsea Business Awards.

The highly coveted subsea industry awards which are now in their seventh year celebrate innovation and excellence across the subsea sector and recognise exceptional achievements at all levels.

Categories recognise achievements across the business spectrum, ranging from Outstanding Contribution to Young Emerging Talent.

 Neil Gordon, chief executive of Subsea UK, said: “As the subsea industry continues to go from strength to strength our awards offer a great opportunity to celebrate the world-class achievements from individuals and companies across the sector.

The UK subsea sector continues to lead the way globally, priding itself on its innovative technological solutions and pioneering thinking, our skills and business development are unrivalled internationally.

The speaker at this year’s awards dinner will be world renowned ocean scientist, Dr Joseph MacInnes.

Dr MacInnes was the first person to dive under the North Pole and among the first five to dive to the Titanic on board the “Nautile” submersible manned vehicle. He was an advisor to the Titanic discovery team and the first Canadian to explore the world’s most famous shipwreck. Working with the movie director James Cameron, he advised on the seven-mile deep scientific survey of the Mariana Trench, below the surface of the Western Pacific.

The Award categories are:

– Subsea Company of the Year for the most outstanding organisation

– Young Emerging Talent to recognise individuals showing the most promise in the sector

– New Enterprise for the most promising company aged five years or less

– Subsea Innovation and Technology to showcase the finest new technology

– Subsea Global Exports to reward excellence in internationalisation

– Subsea Safety Leadership to recognise organisations excelling in safety leadership

– Outstanding Contribution to recognise an individual who has demonstrated commitment to and success in the industry over a significant period

The prestigious ceremony is expected to attract 800 industry leaders when the Subsea UK Business Awards Dinner takes place at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on 6th February 2013.

The awards will be held on the opening night of Subsea 2013, Europe’s flagship subsea event which will feature a two-day exhibition and conference hosting an impressive line-up of companies and experts within the subsea sector.
