PSA Grants AoC for Transocean Barents Drilling Rig

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has granted an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) for the Transocean Barents semi-submersible drilling rig.

On 26 October 2012, Transocean Offshore Ltd NUF received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) for the Transocean Barents drilling rig.

An Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) is a statement from the PSA indicating that a mobile facility is considered to comply with relevant requirements in the petroleum activities regulations. An AoC also includes the company’s safety management system.

The PSA bases the decision on information provided by the applicant in a special AoC application regarding the facility’s technical condition and the applicant’s organisation and management system.

After the AoC has been granted, the shipowner is responsible for ensuring that the organisation, management system and facility’s technical condition always comply with the regulations.
