The Netherlands: New Management Team for Ballast Nedam Offshore

New Management Team for Ballast Nedam Offshore

As of 1 October 2012 the new management team of Ballast Nedam Offshore and Ballast Nedam Equipment Services will consist of S. (Sander) Dekker (33) en J. (Jurjan) Blokland (38) (chairman). Both men have worked at Ballast Nedam Offshore for quite some time and both were involved in the construction of the first offshore wind farm in the Netherlands.

Mr Dekker has both a financial and technical background. His primary responsibility in his new position will be project acquisition. Mr Blokland has experience with civil construction projects in the onshore and offshore industries, both in the Netherlands and abroad, and he will mainly focus on realisation and equipment. They succeed Mr M. (Marcel) Van Bergen, who as of 1 October 2012 will continue his career elsewhere.

With this organisational change we will continue moving steadily ahead with our growth strategy for the offshore sector in the coming period. Ballast Nedam Offshore will continue developing in the direction of E.P.C. (Engineering Procurement and Construction) contracts, with a focus on foundations.

In this endeavour Ballast Nedam Offshore will continue to receive the support of Ballast Nedam Equipment Services as maritime service provider and operator of the Svanen.

Ballast Nedam Engineering, Ballast Nedam Funderingstechnieken and Gebr. van Leeuwen provide distinguishing capabilities in the form of knowledge and innovation in their areas of specialisation: engineering, foundations, drilling and anchoring.

With this expertise Ballast Nedam Offshore is capable of making important contributions to the relatively young offshore wind industry in terms of cost price reduction and earning capacity.

 About Company

Ballast Nedam engages in integrated projects in The Netherlands in four areas of work: housing, mobility, energy and nature. Within this area we focus on five niche markets: industrial construction, hospitals, offshore wind turbines, secondary raw materials and alternative fuels. In a number of areas of expertise, we also operate internationally. The Ballast Nedam share is included in the Amsterdam Small Cap Index (AScX) of NYSE Euronext.

Ballast Nedam’s approach is based on life cycle thinking and acting: we develop, construct, manage and recycle. We are involved in long-term management, maintenance and operation of projects and organize financial feasibility. Our supply and specialized companies deliver competitive edge through innovation, cost leadership and purchasing strength. Ballast Nedam’s range of services is shifting towards specific product-market combinations with greater added value.
