Statoil Appoints Two New Board Members

The corporate assembly of Statoil ASA has elected Marjan Oudeman and Børge Brende as new members of Statoil’s board of directors. In addition, Grace Reksten Skaugen has been elected as new deputy chairman of the board.

Oudeman is Executive Vice President, HR and Organisational Development, of Akzo Nobel, the world’s largest paint and coatings company and major producer of specialty chemicals, with operations in more than 80 countries. Oudeman has extensive experience as a line manager in the steel industry and considerable international business experience.

Brende’s extensive political and international experience includes serving as Minister of the Environment (2001 – 2004) and Minister of Trade and Industry (2004 – 2005). Brende has also been Secretary General of the Norwegian Red Cross and head of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development. He has been the Managing Director of World Economic Forum since 2011.

The election enters into effect from 15 September 2012. All candidates were elected in accordance with the nomination committee’s recommendation.
