Morray Offshore Renewables Submitted Plans for Wind Farm

Moray Offshore Renewables Ltd, a joint venture between EDP Renewables and Repsol Nuevas Energias, yesterday submitted plans for a giant offshore wind farm in Moray Firth to Marine Scotland.

The proposed wind farm is worth GBP 4.5 billion and will comprise 339 turbines, which makes it considerably larger than the previous proposal and the world’s largest offshore wind farm, the Scotsman says.

Nevertheless, the project to be developed 13 miles off Caithness is facing criticism on its landscape and environmental impact.

If the project gets approval, construction would start in 2015 and it would be completed by 2020.
