DONG Energy’s Wind Turbine Factory Near Completion

Dong Energy’s Belfast wind turbine factory is to be finished by the end of the year, writes the Belfast Telegraph.

The factory is worth GBP 50 million and it’s located at the Belfast Harbour on land reclaimed from the sea.

The construction work has created 150 jobs, and after its completion the ‘offshore wind logistics terminal’ will create additional 300 jobs.

The first job for this new terminal will be GBP 1.6 bn offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea, West of Duddon Sands.

A Belfast Harbour spokesman said:

Construction work to develop a new terminal for the assembly of offshore wind turbines in Belfast is progressing well and is on schedule for completion in late 2012, becoming operational in early 2013.

The £50 m investment represents the largest ever in Belfast Harbour’s 400-year history and has provided a major boost for the Northern Ireland construction and aggregate sectors.
