PSA Norway in Valhall Audit

During the period 7-9 May 2012, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) carried out an audit of use of lifting equipment on the BP-operated Valhall field, as well as working environment conditions on Valhall QP.

The objective of the audit was to verify the company’s management of technical, operational and administrative conditions relating to use of lifting appliances and lifting gear on all facilities on the Valhall field, located in the Norwegian part of the North Sea.

Furthermore, the goal was to verify working environment conditions on the Valhall QP facility.

Result

Nonconformities were identified in relation to:

Working environment conditions for catering employees in Sodexo

Leaking hydraulic oil from the offshore cranes

Furthermore, improvement items were identified in relation to:

Supervisory and coordination duties

Emergency operation valves in the engine room

Working environment in the crane cabin and access to cranes
