Vestas Cuts Jobs Due to Its Savings Plan

Vestas Wind Systems is planning to cut 10 % of its workforce in order to save about EUR 150 Million.

There is a great possibility that Vestas might fire around 2000 to 3000 workers, however the company will make its official announcement tomorrow morning. Considering Vestas’ financial results stated for 2011, they account for Kopenhagen’s worst performer. Still, together with German Siemens, Vestas is the world’s biggest player in the offshore wind market.

Most of job cuts are directed to the European market. U.S. jobs are safe for now because that is the market which needs to stay stable at least in 2012.
