Stena Line Expands Its Freight Capacity Between Hook of Holland and Killinghol

With the ‘Stena Transit’ being named on 15 November and the ‘Stena Transporter’ placed in service in spring, Stena Line is expanding its freight capacity between the Hook of Holland and Killingholme by 30%. The vessels each have a capacity of 4,000 line metres (264 trailers) and can carry 300 drivers. Together they have cost 220 million euros.

Cautious market recovery

The Swedish shipping company does not yet need the extra capacity, as the North Sea ferry market remains level. A cautious recovery in accompanied transport has been noted and Stena specialises in this area. In the port of Rotterdam the transhipment from roro cargo in trailers (*) increased by 2% to 13 million tonnes in the first nine months of 2011.
