Maersk Drilling Signs Jack-Up Rig Contract for Work in Danish North Sea

Maersk Drilling has signed a contract with DONG Energy for the jack-up rig MAERSK RESOLUTE for work on the South Arne field in the Danish North Sea. The expected duration of the seven-well contract is approx 680 days and the contract also includes options for 4 additional wells of estimated 400 days’ duration. The contract value for the firm 680-day period is approximately USD 125 million. The contract is expected to commence in October 2012.

We are very pleased to enter into this assignment with DONG to work on the next phase of the South Arne Campaign which MAERSK RESOLUTE has previously worked very successfully on,” says Claus V. Hemmingsen, CEO of Maersk Drilling and member of the Executive Board of the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group. “We see the successful work performed by MAERSK RESOLUTE on the South Arne field in 2009/2010, including underbalanced drilling operations, as an important factor in selecting Maersk Drilling to perform Phase 3 as well.”

MAERSK RESOLUTE is the second in a series of four High Efficiency 350 ft jack-up rigs in Maersk Drilling’s fleet. Since its delivery in 2008 the rig has been constantly employed in the Danish North Sea.
