Statoil Gets Nod to Drill New Well in North Sea

Statoil has received consent to carry out exploration drilling of well 16/2-10 in the North Sea with the Transocean Leader mobile facility. Statoil has previously received consent to carry out exploration drilling of wells 16/2-8 and 16/2-9S with Transocean Leader.

The new consent relates to drilling of appraisal well 16/2-10 in production licence 265.

Transocean Leader’s position during drilling will be:

N 58º 51’ 16.10”, E 2º 32’ 37.45“. Water depth at the site is 115 metres.

The location is about 145 kilometres from closest land (Utsira, Rogaland).

The planned start-up is in September 2011. The operation has an expected duration of 39 days in the event of a dry well and 50 days in the event of a discovery. Transocean Leader is operated by Transocean Offshore NS LTD. The facility received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in December 2004 .
