Dutch-Based Vroon Offshore Adds New Vessel to its AHTS Fleet

Vroon Offshore Services (VOS) announces that it has taken delivery of a new addition to their offshore fleet.

The VOS Apollo, an anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel built at the Fujian Shipyard in China, was delivered yesterday, 15 September 2011, in China.

She is the third in a series of six “A-types”, with the remaining vessels due for delivery during the next 12 months. The “A” vessel type is slightly more advanced than the “H-type” and “T-Type” AHTS vessels also operated by Vroon, having a bigger bow thruster (8 MT) and stern thruster (6 MT). As a consequence, these vessels have improved manoeuvring and station-keeping capabilities. The VOS Apollo has a DP-1 notation.

In a ceremony held at the Shipyard in July, VOS Apollo was named by Mrs Marij Schoenmakers, wife of Mr Con Schoenmakers, member of Vroon Group B.V. Supervisory Board.
