Order for Imtech, IHC Systems and Marin for Zeebrugge bridge simulator

Persbericht

A consortium consisting of Imtech Marine & Offshore B.V., IHC Systems B.V. and MARIN has been awarded the order to supply a bridge simulator to the Province of West-Flanders (Belgium). The bridge simulator is intended for the Centre for Maritime Education in Zeebrugge.

The three consortium members have combined their specific knowledge to implement this particular project. Imtech Marine & Offshore has acquired years of experience in the construction of integrated bridge systems and ship automation equipment. IHC Systems (50% subsidiary of Imtech Marine & Offshore) are suppliers of fully automated dredging systems on practically every dredging vessel throughout the world. MARIN has built up years of experience in the field of ship simulation, model testing and hydrodynamics.

In addition to training ship crews for conventional vessels such as container and passenger ships, it is also possible to train crews for dredgers and fishing vessels on the bridge simulator. The steering house with bridge consoles will be equipped with projectors and a 330 round presentation screen. The simulator naturally also includes an extensive instructor’s console and a debriefing station. The bridge simulator is based on the UniMACS 3000® integrated bridge concept from Imtech Marine & Offshore, installed worldwide in both civilian and naval vessels. By using the standardised UniMACS concept, combined with the specific knowledge of IHC Systems and MARIN, the consortium is able to respond perfectly to the requirements of this project.

Through the implementation of this order, a major contribution will be made to the safety of our heavily-used waters. A well-trained crew is essential to marine safety.
