Operation Tricolor hampered due to severe weather conditions

Unfavourable weather conditions have necessitated a temporary postponement to the wreck removal operation in the English Channel. At the moment, all supporting vessels, with the exception of the jack up rig ‘Buzzard’ and the tug ‘Banckert’, have returned to the port of Zeebrugge.

Last Friday the salvage team commenced with the eighth and final cut of the TRICOLOR. On Friday night this operation was halted due to the unfavourable weather conditions. Later in the weekend, all remaining vessels, such as support vessels, the jack up rig ‘Vagant’ and a diving support vessel, returned to Zeebrugge.  The bad weather is expected to last for at least four more days.
