MORE INFORMATION
Initially broker-oriented since its inception in 1991, the MONACO YACHT SHOW has evolved considerably to become a leading super yacht show. Bringing together many of the world’s leading shipyards, dry docks, and a growing number of manufacturers and service companies, a full spectrum of the industry related to yachts over 24 meters is represented. This ranges from teak decks to jacuzzis, from satellite telephone systems to mini-submarines, and a wide variety of services related to the yacht industry such as insurance, crew recruitment, etc. Truly comprehensive!
The Monaco Yacht Show is a unique event. It is the only boat show in the world with an exclusive super yacht focus (boats 20m & over). Considered to be ” simply the best in the business ” it is a forum for business professionals from the super yacht industry. Over a four-day period the Principality of Monaco becomes an epicentre of high level financial transactions and orders.
The exhibition stands are set-up either outside facing the berths of the in-water yachts, or inside large air-conditioned exhibition tents covering 4,600 m2, making a total of 5,500 m2 of exhibition stand space for the 2002 show.

As for the 70 in-water yachts – the maximum number Port Hercules can moor for the show – they range from 20m to 80m in length. The yachts are, of course, the principal attraction of the show and are presented by yacht brokers and shipyards. Their common denominator is that they are all outstanding in their class and for the most part one-offs. Fifteen are set to be launched in 2003 and the craft present will take the show to yet greater heights.

The MONACO YACHT SHOW also strives to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. In this spirit, several cocktails are organized including the official inauguration, and the famous CAPTAINS’ PARTY

WHAT TYPE OF CLIENTELE ATTENDS THE SHOW?
All sorts of people. From enthusiastic amateurs to wealthy shipping magnates – who are often yacht lovers themselves. Most of our professional visitors come to discover the latest technological innovations and meet the world’s leading players in the luxury yacht market. Individual visitors are exceptionally high-level. Because we maintain discretion as a top priority, it is difficult to provide their exact demographic statistics, but you can be sure that from Miami to Rome and from London to Riyadh, no owner or potential buyer is unaware of the MONACO YACHT SHOW.
17,000 visitors are expected in 2003. 80% of them are foreigners

WHAT DISTINGUISHES THE MONACO YACHT SHOW FROM OTHER BOAT SHOWS?
According to Luc Pettavino: “ The decision to target a very specific niche: the top end of the luxury market. Maintaining high standards of personalized service for exhibitors and visitors from around the globe despite the 30% annual growth. The ability to understand diverse cultures and languages from several countries and make everyone feel at home.”

THE RECIPE FOR SUCCESS
The recipe for success according to Luc Pettavino: « the support of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince and H.S.H. Crown Prince Albert of Monaco, a flourishing market, the participants’ trust, an experienced and dedicated organization team, a successful media campaign, and the exceptional setting of the Principality of Monaco are among the success factors ».

HOW IS SUCH A COMPLEX EVENT PLANNED?
Monaco’s Port Hercules is a popular location for many events. Nonetheless, this mythical port majestically located in the city center, lacks the kind of infrastructure normally provided by trade show and exposition halls. This makes event set-up and breakdown a true logistical challenge: uniquely Monegasque!

Exhibitors and their materials, the yachts and stands – which stay only four days – represent only part of this event. During an entire year, a team of 4 people manage all aspects of the show: the commercialization of the exhibition stands and berths; a marketing and media campaign updated annually with new graphics for all the mediums including a re-design of the website; the publication of three 4 to 12 page newsletters, printing and distribution of 100,000 invitation cards and several mailings to a well-targeted database of 5,000 professionals and individuals, plus a logistical organization of the site involving several suppliers and ‘gargantuan’ quantities!
– more than 5.500 m2 of flooring, nearly 6,000 m2 of carpeting for the stands rows, more than 2km of electric cabling, 60 tons of ballast… all installed by a team of 50 to 60 people during the two weeks prior the show!
– up to 15 team members and 25 hostesses and 20 security guards recruited for a week’s duty
– more than 25 people working each morning to clean the site;
– more than 1,200 green plants and other floral compositions;
– nearly 500 people lunching during the four days of the show and more than 20,000 canopies and other delicacies.
