Lundin Norway Commences Drilling of Appraisal Well at Johan Sverdrup Discovery

Lundin Petroleum AB (Lundin Petroleum) announces that its wholly owned subsidiary Lundin Norway AS (Lundin Norway) has commenced the drilling of the appraisal well 16/2-13 on the north eastern part of the Johan Sverdrup discovery.

The well is located 2.5 km north east of the discovery well 16/2-6 made in 2010 and the main objective is to determine the top reservoir, reservoir quality and thickness, and oil water contact in this part of the field.

The planned total depth is 2,150 metres. The well will be drilled with the semi submersible drilling rig Transocean Arctic and is expected to take approximately 45 days.

Lundin Petroleum is the operator of PL501 with 40 percent interest. Partners are Statoil Petroleum AS with 40 percent and Mærsk Oil Norway with 20 percent interest.
