Cutting operation recommenced Monday evening

The operation to cut the TRICOLOR has commenced once again late Monday evening the 28th of July. Divers have succeeded in replacing the cutting wire prior to the start. The operation was hampered due to unfavourable weather conditions over the weekend.

The salvage team has managed to cut the enormous propeller shaft of the car carrier. The cutting of the first compartment of the sunken ‘TRICOLOR’ is half way. Over 15 meters have been cut.  So far the cutting wire has functioned satisfactorily. It has cut through very large parts of the engine room, which is one of the strongest sections of the vessel.
